Our Michigan facility serves customers across a wide range of industries, including automotive manufacturing, steel processing, material handling, construction, and heavy industrial operations.

What is a tie rod cylinder?

A hydraulic cylinder, also referred to as a linear hydraulic motor, is a mechanical actuator used in many applications such as manufacturing, machinery, construction, and civil engineering. These cylinders generate their power through pressurized hydraulic fluid and propel vehicles and machines through a unidirectional force.

There are many varieties of hydraulic cylinders. Here’s what you need to know about these cylinders: Tie rod style hydraulic cylinders utilize strong threaded steel rods to secure two end caps to the cylinder’s barrel. There are small-bore style cylinders and large bore cylinders. Small-bore cylinders typically contain four tie rods, while large cylinders require as many as 20 tie rods to secure the end caps. Tie rod hydraulic cylinders can be disassembled easily for service, replacement, or customization. Yates offers the variety below:

Yates Tie Rod Cylinders

H6 Heavy Duty Hydraulic

The Yates H6 Heavy Duty Hydraulic Cylinder is engineered for demanding industrial applications that require maximum strength, durability, and performance. Designed to withstand high-pressure environments and heavy workloads, the H6 series is commonly used in clamping, stamping, forging, bending, tilting, and shearing operations. Built to NFPA standards, these heavy-duty hydraulic cylinders deliver reliable performance in manufacturing, steel processing, material handling, and other rugged industrial environments.

  • Bore sizes from 1.5"-24"
  • 20 different mount styles
  • JIC-NFPA interchangeability
  • 3,000 PSI

A4 Heavy Duty Pneumatic

The Yates A4 Heavy Duty Pneumatic Cylinder provides dependable pneumatic power for applications where compressed air is preferred over hydraulic systems. Built for durability and long service life, the A4 series is ideal for demanding industrial automation, material handling, assembly, and manufacturing processes. Its robust construction and reliable performance make it an excellent choice for heavy-duty pneumatic cylinder applications.

  • Bore sizes from 1.5"-20"
